Blogging 101 in Groom's World

Welcome to our class blog. You may have extensive knowledge of blogs or none at all...relax, it's fairly easy. All you need is a working computer (easier said than done some days!) and some time carved out of your day. I use my blog for so many reasons: links for class assignments and resources, blog postings, twitter account and more.

I'm looking forward to using technology with you, but do need to clarify some basic expectations and provide direction on maneuvering around my online resources. First, use your school e-mail address in all matters pertaining to school. Let me know if you need help with our LS R-7 e-mail accounts. Secondly, in order to help with home-school communication, follow me on Twitter for the most up-to-date information on OTLOTC (oldspeak: homework), assignments and other important class announcements. Thirdly, visit our Team 8 Blue website that contains our team OTLOTC page. Fourthly, visit my personal website. The website is more of an anchor to the massive ship of content on my blog. The link is in the upper left-hand corner of this blog. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks! Mrs. G

Blogging Ideas

In order for you to respond to my blog postings you need to come armed with your brain and critical thinking skills. Of course, textspeak is not okay here. bc i'd h8 2 give u 0 pts!
Please check your comments for the following:

1. I have introduced a new idea.

2. I have expanded or elaborated upon an idea already posted by someone else.

3. I have provided an example of an idea someone else submitted.

4. I have described a viewpoint or perspective that is different than someone else's.

5. I have asked a question of one or more participants.

6. I have responded to questions of one or more participants.

7. I have raised an issue that has no clear-cut answer but might be explored by others in the class.

8. I have posed a problem and asked for others' viewpoints.

9. I have shared resources that pertain to an idea or issue under discussion.

10. I have answered using the standards of English, including punctuation, capitalization and complete sentences.

Not only will you receive reduced credit, I do believe in public shame and humiliation. Once a blog is posted, you have no way to remove it. The best defense against public shame and humiliation is called the preview button. Edit/proofread before submitting. If you do make a whopper of a mistake (and, from time to time, we all do), please e-mail me @ elizabeth.groom@leesummit.k12.mo.us and let me know. I'll gladly remove it for you. Since I must approve of all blog comments, don't wait--e-mail me (using your school e-mail address) . You can try again in the meantime.

Happy Blogging!
